The mind stirs from the dulled alarms blaring constantly in this age of strife, wary but unyielding to the desires of life.
The places of strongholds in the heart fester, spewing forth black bile and corruption into all corners of life, dragging down the self into the infinite darkness of the abyss.
The Spirit laments and beckons ceaselessly, yet His presence and guidance are ignored in the face of personal decision, enslaved to reinforcement of malicious agreements and soul ties.
Oh, the guilt you must feel, yet this rebuke is dulled by the constant exposure to sin! The bitter emptiness of walking down a path of temptation, slave to whims and desires you chose to replace Him!
And yet, He will suffer with us, lovingly providing mercy in our rebellion while we constantly pull at the line of death, seeking whatever consequence we hope to find as treasure at the end the rope.
He goes with us, not just watching and hoping we will turn back, but to suffer the ailments of sin with us, patiently accompanying our souls while they slide into darker and darker waters.
…until the line inevitably ends:
For you come into the presence of the dying God, His begotten Son, whom He sent to die in your place – the last knot on this line and His final mercy.
Woe to those who forsake this final warning! Blessed are we who heed it! Repent and turn back while there is still the chance!
For His face is full of anguish, pained by the evils and sins of the world, shedding his holiness and connection for the forgiveness of previous and future acts so that we are given a pathway to eternal life.
Heavy is this consequence, yet so light is his selfless love! That He would so give His life for ours to make light of all sins and consequences we have endured is divine mercy, so freely given through the example of His perfect love.
So, the choice is ours, bury our lives of sin with Him and rise with Jesus. “Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what’s left and live it properly”.
No more cheap grace for we who have seen the threshold.
